“Romance for the sake of romance” is the mantra from Honey Gentry as we cross the threshold into a new decade.
Whilst neither Valentine nor Ghosts of Lovers Past, the new offerings from London-based artist Honey Gentry may be typical love songs, lacking in romance they are not.
Valentine narrates a dawning realisation of love lost, whilst the whispers of former lovers present themselves in the nooks and crannies of daily life in Ghosts of Lovers Past. Both songs mark a return to self-producing for Honey Gentry, who layers romantic strings, flutes and bells atop synths and pianos in a style first explored in fan-favourite, Aphrodite (2019).
For fans of: Lana Del Rey, Nicole Dollanganger, Weyes Blood and Grimes.
